What is One Design?One Design racing is a totally different breed of sailing from PHRF racing. The boats are all made equal, thus making the race an exciting competition of skill. There are however, things you can do to give you the edge on speed, such as taking proper care of the rigging, cleaning the bottom, and buying well-designed sails that suit your sailing style.At North Sails Oregon we know what One-Design sailing is all about. Kerry has competitively raced in many classes of one-design boats, such as the 470, Laser, Laser II, Thistle, J24, Melges 24, Olson 30, Cal 20, and Santana 20. If you are racing, or would like to race one-design sailboats, feel free to contact us with any questions you have about your boat or the sport. If we don't know the answer, we'll help you find it! Because each one design boat is so unique, and the sails are constantly evolving, it is impossible to list all the sail information and the pricing on this website. For the latest info and prices, please contact us. Although most of the sails are built at the North Sails One Design loft in San Diego, we will not charge you for shipping for any sails that are picked up at our location here in Portland. And remember, there's no Oregon sales tax! |
